BadFood helps you browse recent FDA and USDA food recalls and save recalls on your device. For help with the app, accessibility feedback, or privacy questions, email contact@operantconstruct.io.

Report a problem

Tell us what you were trying to do, what happened, and approximately when it happened. Include your iPhone or iPad model and iOS or iPadOS version if you know them. You can attach a screenshot after removing personal or sensitive details.

To include technical information:

  1. Open Settings in BadFood.
  2. Tap Copy diagnostic information.
  3. Review the copied report and paste it into your email if you want to share it.

The report contains app and device details and, when available, an error category, HTTP status, and request identifier. It excludes your searches, saved recalls, and persistent device identifiers. Copying it does not send it automatically. Please avoid including medical information, passwords, or other sensitive data.

Common questions

Where does recall information come from?

BadFood displays FDA and USDA food recall information from the latest three calendar months. Open a recall's official notice to check product identifiers, affected dates, locations, and the actions recommended by the issuing agency or company. Always consult the official notice for the full product details.

Why might a recall be missing or out of date?

A recall may fall outside the recent three-calendar-month window, be excluded by your search or filters, or not yet appear in the app's latest data. Check your connection, clear any search or filters, refresh the list, and consult the official source. BadFood does not guarantee complete or immediate information and does not send push alerts about new recalls.

Can I use BadFood offline?

Previously cached information and saved recalls may remain available offline. You need a connection to fetch current information and open official websites. Cached information can be out of date or unavailable; reconnect and refresh when you need current details.

Will my saved recalls appear on another device?

Saved recalls stay on the device where you saved them. BadFood does not provide accounts or synchronization between devices. Saved entries retain their official links after they leave the recent-data window, but current details may no longer be available in the app. Do not rely on reinstalling BadFood to restore your list.

How do I clear information from the app?

Open Settings and choose the action you need:

Resetting also restores the crash-reporting preference to its default, which is on. That preference does not activate reporting in a version where it is unavailable. These actions do not delete emails you previously sent to support or server records. Using the app again can create new cached information.

Does BadFood automatically send crash reports?

BadFood sends filtered technical crash and error reports to Sentry when reporting is enabled. Reporting is on by default. To turn it off, open Settings and switch off Crash-reporting preference; this stops reporting and discards queued reports. Reports already received by Sentry are not retracted. If you turn reporting back on, restart BadFood when prompted. Resetting all local data restores the preference to on.

Settings shows whether reporting is active. If reporting is unavailable in your version, the preference does not activate it. You can still copy diagnostic information and choose to email it to support. See the Privacy Policy for the information included in reports and retention details.

How do you handle my information?

Read the BadFood Privacy Policy for information about local data, requests to the recall service, and information you choose to send to support. For privacy questions or to request deletion of a support message, email contact@operantconstruct.io.
